Verity by Colleen Hoover is a psychological thriller. The book was creepy twisted and addictive at the same time. As I was listening to the audiobook it became more enjoyable because of how well it was narrated.
Lowen is a small time author with financial issues and she is offered an amazing opportunity to be the co-author of a popular series written by Verity Crawford which is left incomplete due to her accident.
Reluctant at first she decides to go forward and while researching Verity’s notes she comes across her autobiography which reveals her unknown personality, her relationship with her children and the truth about her daughter’s death. Lowen struggles to make a decision as to whether she should reveal it to Verity’s husband or not.
I could not stop listening to the audiobook once I started. The writing style was brilliant and it will keep the reader hooked. The autobiography had spine-chilling narrations that will literally shake you to the core. The author also created an eerie atmosphere brilliantly though the book is nothing related to any supernatural horror.
Though I must say that the ending didn’t seem to me as powerful as the whole book. With a storyline like this the ending could have been better. It is not that I didn’t enjoy it but wanted more as the whole book raised my expectations a lot.
I believe this is one of those books that will be enjoyed by readers of all genre.
